The visit of the Mayor of Larnaca took place on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 Andrea Byra and Scales of the Municipality’s Urban Planning Committee at the premises of Kition Ocean Holdings Ltd, Larnaca Port.
The purpose of the visit was to present the new revised Master Plan of the Single Port Development and Larnaca Marina. The presentation was made by the CEO of Kition Mr. Panos Alexandros and the Greek and Spanish Scholars of the Project.
The course of work in this phase is in transition and in the first quarter of 2022 management will be completely in the hands of the Consortium through the co-management now with the Cyprus Port Authority.
This Master Plan is a proposal that will give the city of Larnaca a meaningful push but also a leading position in both the entire country and in the wider Mediterranean region. The project aims to completely reform the vital and limitless possibilities of a single area of Port and Marina and the surrounding area, while at the same time it will bring significant benefits to the local economy and community. The ultimate purpose of the project is to make the country a destination for investments with stable and sustainable development prospects. At the same time, the creation of an extremely functional port that will respect the environment and the area as much as the creation of one of the most modern and beautiful Marinas in the eastern Mediterranean that will host more than 800 boats of all sizes.
This project gives the opportunity to create one of the largest seaside development projects, which will create beyond four thousand new jobs.
It is noted that the Master Plan has been submitted to the competent institutions of the state for approval and issuance of all necessary permits.
The work of the single development of Port and Marina will be performed in four phases. The first phase will last about five years and will involve the construction of public spaces and arm infrastructures in the Marina area. This phase may offer a large coastal front in the city as it will consolidate specifically the coastal pedestrian street of the Phoenikoudes. Additionally, building facilities such as Port Authority, Maritime Club, Port entrance building, multi-purpose building and cruise passenger terminal making the city a tourist hub.
During the second phase, buildings including apartments, retail shops, entertainment venues and parking spaces will be built in the Marina area. A building for boat maintenance and repair will also be created. Additionally it is proposed to create an operational park that will consist of office and training areas. Finally, a 5-star hotel will be built overlooking the coastal front of Finikoudes and Marina, which will include beach club and parking spaces.
In the third phase, a state-of-the-art futuristic building with a panoramic view of 360 degrees where there will be floors, restaurants and parking spaces. Private villages with garden, pool and anchorage will also be built. A hotel, convention center and parking will be set up on the north side. There will be helpful support services such as electromechanical installations, EAC substations, Marina services, boat maintenance and repair building and workshops and boat warehouses.
During the Wednesday and last phase, additional private villages with garden, pools, garages and anchorage position will be added. Residential and commercial buildings will also be built while new warehouses will be added to the Port area.
The project in its entirety is possessed by a green perception governing the construction and implementation of the project. All necessary parameters have been taken into account in order to prevent the environment both during its implementation and later after the delivery of the project.
It is noted that an application has been submitted to the Department of Conservation of the Department of Urban Planning and House for restoration of the existing dock which will begin immediately after the issue of the said permit.
During the month of October, a public presentation of the project is scheduled and at the same time the public will be kept informed about the progress of work and developments through press releases and others.
After the end of the meeting, Mayor Larnaca thanked Kition Ocean Holdings Representatives and especially Mr. Panos Alexandros and Scholars for the information and stressed the importance of this project. He mentioned that the Master Plan falls and fully covers the expectations of Larnaca city. This development is a project that is going to change not only the image of Larnaca but also the whole of Cyprus. He assured that the City Council will make every effort to ensure that the investment in question is implemented in accordance with the expectations and wishes of Larnaca City and Province residents and will provide any assistance to overcome potential problems that may arise.
